Since its start in 2019, atingi platform has reached almost two million people in Africa and already enabled more than 300,000 of them to access courses in the variety of disciplines such as entrepreneurship, technology & digital transformation, management and leadership, health, professional orientation, to name a few. After piloting for over a year, atingi was now officially launched for learners in Rwanda.
The platform was launched virtually to a quorum of over 200 people as project representatives Olena Rusnak & Johannes Pohlmann explained the benefits of the platform for learners and content creators.
atingi means ‘to achieve’ in Esperanto and it is here to help people do just that. With a constantly growing catalogue of over 300 courses, atingi strives to improve the employability of young people through modern digital learning opportunities.
Through its more than 200 symbiotic, varied partnerships with organizations from business, science, civil society & government, atingi unfolds its full potential and can offer high quality relevant content.
The platform is available to the community at zero cost, both online and offline with the atingi app, this was done in a bid to make the platform more accessible and inclusive.
Since 2020 atingi was piloted in Rwanda thanks to the cooperation with the Rwandan Ministry of Information, Communication and Technology (MINICT). atingi contributed to the Digital Ambassadors Programme of the Government of Rwanda which aims at improving digital literacy of citizens across the country. atingi project leader Jan-Gerrit Groeneveld stated that he is encouraged by the development and first stage results of the atingi initiative. He notes, “Early user acceptance of the learning platform has exceeded initial expectations, which strengthens our belief that investing in digital education infrastructure on the African continent is the right way for us to contribute to unlocking the enormous local economic potential.”
Although the atingi platform is no substitute for the formal education system, it is an innovative tool that will enable young people in Africa to hone their employability skills free of charge. With Africa set to be the hub of the global workforce in the near future, platforms such as atingi are an imperative. To join atingi and explore our course offering, visit www.atingi.org
